MBM in Appleton, is sponsoring the 12th annual “Swinging for a Cure” golf outing and fundraiser date.

The event will be held at Royal St. Patrick’s Golf Course in Wrightstown Friday, Aug. 14. All proceeds from the event will benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

“Swinging for a Cure” was originally fueled 12 years ago by MBM employee Michael Schuldes, whose daughter, Stephanie, was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia at seven weeks of age. After two years of chemotherapy treatments, Stephanie was pronounced cured in 2001. Now at 18-years-old, Stephanie is about to attend her first year of college at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Since Schuldes started the “Swinging for a Cure” event, MBM has been involved every step of the way. This year marks the inaugural year for MBM as the featured sponsor of the event.

“As a family-owned business, MBM understands the important role businesses play in supporting families — not only our business family, but our greater community family,” said Fritz Merizon, president and CEO of MBM. “Swinging for a Cure provides MBM an opportunity to show our support and give back for a greater community cause.”

Last year, “Swinging for a Cure” donated all event proceeds, totaling more than $15,000, to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The event is open to the public and includes 18 holes of golf, a boxed lunch, buffet dinner and prize opportunities for $125 per golfer. For those who choose to attend only the dinner, the price is $25. For more information or to register, call (920) 997-3377, email mikes@mbm-idt.com, or visit http://mbm-idt.com/cure.aspx.
