The Anglers Insight Marketing Pro Walleye Series fishing tournament will be held in Green Bay July 2-4.

The tournament, held in conjunction with Festival Foods Fire Over the Fox festival events, pairs one professional fisherman with one amateur to form a team. The tournament is expected to bring in anglers from as far as Utah to fish the waters of Green Bay.

“It hasn’t received much national publicity yet, but Green Bay is challenging the legendary Lake Erie as a producer of trophy walleyes,” says Scott Matheson, AIM president. “The Bay of Green Bay has quietly become known as one of the prime walleye fisheries in the U.S.”

The unique quality of this tournament is the use of the AIM Catch–Record–Release format. This format uses digital photos to record catches, followed by the immediate release of every walleye. It also allows anglers to continually “upgrade” their catch all day, since fish aren’t put into the livewell at any point. Because of AIM’s CRR format and daily limit of seven fish, the weights recorded will be much higher than those tournaments with a normal catch limit of five walleye, thus showcasing this great fishery for what it is.

As the fishermen record their catch digitally, live photo and video updates will be available on www.aimfishing.com. AIM also uses live GPS tracking of the top leaders to show where they are fishing in the bay, their tracks over the course of the final day and even their speed at any given moment.

The tournament officially starts at 8 a.m. each day at the Metro Boat Launch on Bay Beach Road. Boats return at 4 p.m. The weigh-in begins at 5 p.m. at Leicht Park all three days with the final on July 4 during the Festival Foods Fire Over the Fox activities.
