This week’s road construction update from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation:

Brown County: Work on Wisconsin 172 restricts 172 to one eastbound lane and two westbound lanes between U.S. 41 and Webster Avenue through August, and one lane in each direction between Webster Avenue and Interstate 43 through August. The northbound 41-to-eastbound 172 exit, the Riverside Drive-to-westbound 172 exit, the south Riverside Drive–Webster Avenue ramp, and the 172–Pilgrim Way exit are closed through August. Alternate route signing is provided on 41 and Interstate 43. Traffic on Wisconsin 32 (Ashland Avenue), Wisconsin 57 (Riverside Drive) and Brown County H (Broadway Street) is reduced to one lane in each direction during work operations.

The northbound lane of Lawrence Drive from Brown County F (Scheuring Drive) to Brown County G (Main Avenue) is closed through July for reconstruction, storm sewer work and construction of three stormwater retention ponds. The detour is Scheuring Road, U.S. 41 and Main Avenue.

Calumet County: U.S. 10 from State Park Road to Peters Road and Wisconsin 55 from Schaefer Road to Manitowoc Road are closed for the 10/55 roundabout project through September. The 10 detour is Wisconsin 114 and Wisconsin 32/57; the 55 detour is 114, Calumet County N and Calumet County CE. Four-way stop signs are located at 114 and State Park Road, and 114 and N.

Door County: The Michigan Street Bridge in Sturgeon Bay is closed to road traffic through October 2010, with one leaf of the bridge lowered Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for deck removal.

Fond du Lac County: Work on U.S. 41 between Wisconsin 175 and Fond du Lac County OO is continuing. The 41/Hickory Street interchange is closed through November for reconstruction of the interchange and the Hickory Street and Canadian National and Fox Valley and Western Railroad bridge, plus a pedestrian bridge to connect to the Wild Goose State Trail. Traffic on 41 will be routed onto the County OO ramps Monday and Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., with OO closed. Nighttime lane closures will take place from north of Fond du Lac County OOO to south of Townline Road from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday. U.S. 151 is closed from Fond du Lac County WH to the Fond du Lac–Calumet county line; the detour is County WH and Calumet County G.

Green Lake County: Wisconsin 44 is closed from Green Lake County B to Wisconsin 73 through Aug. 31. The detour is Wisconsin 73 and Green Lake County X.

Manitowoc County: Work is under way on Wisconsin 67 in Kiel between Wisconsin 32/57 and County AA, including construction of two roundabouts and reconstruction of the road and an intersection, through October. Fremont Street is closed between Chicago Street and 67; the detour is First Street and 32/57. Wisconsin 310 between one mile east of Interstate 43 and Two Rivers is closing today for a resurfacing project through Oct. 30, although local property access and access to properties on Manitowoc County Q will be maintained.

Marinette County: U.S. 41 is limited to one lane in each direction north of Peshtigo as part of the 41 four-lane project. Through late summer, southbound 41 traffic is routed down the new northwest ramp to new Schacht Road, the new roundabout to Maple Street, and connecting to existing 41 at Old Peshtigo Road. Northbound traffic follows the new pavement at Old Peshtigo Road onto Maple Street, the new roundabout and Schacht Road, connecting with existing 41. U.S. 8 has 12-foot width restrictions from Pembine to the north 8/U.S. 141 intersection.

Oconto County: Work on the U.S. 41 bypass continues through November between Frog Pound Road and Oconto County S; 41 is restricted to one lane in each direction just north and south of Oconto, and Wisconsin 22 is closed from Elmgrove School Road to Cook Avenue through late September. The 22 detour is U.S. 141 and 41.

Outagamie County: Work continues on U.S. 41 between Wisconsin 15/Outagamie County OO and Outagamie County J through November, with nightly lane closings. Buchanan Road and Vandenbroek Road over 41 are closed, and the right lane of 15/OO at 41 and the right turn lane from 15/OO to the southbound 41 offramp are closed, with work at the intersection expected to be completed this week. College Avenue in Appleton is closed from Rankin Street to John Street and Walter Avenue for the bridge replacement project, and from John Street and Walter Avenue to Matthias Street for reconstruction through October. Wisconsin 96 (Wisconsin Avenue) is reduced to one lane between Tower View Drive and Casaloma Drive through June.

Sheboygan County: The $16 million Interstate 43 project between the Sheboygan–Ozaukee county line and Wisconsin 42 begins today; northbound traffic will be reduced to one lane from Sheboygan County AA to Wilson–Lima Road and from Sheboygan County EE to Wisconsin 42. Single lanes of Wisconsin 23 will be closed over Taylor Drive Wednesday to complete asbestos abatement work.

Wisconsin 42 is closed between Vanguard Drive in Sheboygan and the Pigeon River Bridge in Howards Grove through Oct. 30. The project includes constructing roundabouts at Sheboygan County Y and County JJ. The detour is Wisconsin 32 in Howards Grove, Wisconsin 23 west of Sheboygan and Interstate 43. Indiana Avenue between South 17th Street and South 14th Street in Sheboygan is closed through Sept. 25; the detour is South Taylor Drive and New Jersey Avenue.

Waupaca County: Replacement of the Wisconsin 54 railroad overpass east of Royalton continues through August. Traffic will be detoured onto Wisconsin 22 and U.S. 45.

Winnebago County: Winnebago County Y is closed between Wisconsin 76 and Winnebago County A in Oshkosh through Sept. 19. County Y traffic will be detoured onto 76, Snell Road and County A. Wisconsin 114 (Third Street) in Menasha is closed from Tayco Street to Racine Street to Manitowoc Street; the detour is U.S. 41, U.S. 10/Wisconsin 441 and U.S. 10 (Oneida Street). Koelpin Road at Yellow Harbor Creek is closed for bridge replacement through July. County Line Road is closed at the Van Dyne Creek bridge for bridge replacement through July.
