As radio stunts go, this is a radio stunt with spirit. And a coffin.

WAPL (105.7 FM) will host a Funeral 4 Favre at Tom, Dick and Harry’s in Green Bay Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. A funeral with all the trimmings from a procession to the bar right down to the specially made number four purple satin-lined coffin with a Wrangler jeans-clad dummy inside.

It brings old meaning to the term “he’s dead to us.”

The funeral may be on Friday (and broadcast live); burial follows (we hope) on Sunday when the Packers take on the Vikings.

Grieving fans who attend the funeral are encouraged to bring Favre apparel and trinkets to leave around the coffin. WAPL will donate those items to Goodwill. In lieu of flowers, fans are asked to make a monetary contribution and donations will be forwarded to the Deanna Favre Hope Foundation.

“We don’t want to be complete buttheads about the whole thing,” said Len Nelson at WAPL.
