This week’s road construction update from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation: Brown County: The Wisconsin 172 project continues through September 2010, although traffic will be in normal configuration until February. Brown County KB and Brown County R in Denmark are closed for paving through November. The County KB detour is Bohemia Drive, Hager Road, Wall Street and Prospect Street; the County R detour is Wisconsin 147, Interstate 43 and U.S. 141. Door County: The Michigan Street Bridge in Sturgeon Bay is closed to road traffic through October 2010, with one leaf of the bridge lowered Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for deck removal. Fond du Lac County: Work on U.S. 41 between Wisconsin 175 and U.S. 151 is continuing. The 41/Hickory Street interchange is closed through November, although Hickory Street is now open one lane in each direction between Pioneer Road and Rolling Meadows Drive. Traffic on 41 between 175 and U.S. 151 is restricted to one lane in each direction to complete median work. U.S. 45 is closed from Wisconsin 28 to Eden through October; the detour route is Wisconsin 28, Fond du Lac County W and Wisconsin 67. Kiel Road in the Town of Calumet is closed between Town Hall Road and Schoenborn Road for replacement of the Manitowoc River bridge. The CN Railroad crossing on Wisconsin 49 (Main Street) in Brandon will be replaced Nov. 2–6; the detour is Center Street and East Bowen Street. Manitowoc County: Work continues on Wisconsin 67 in Kiel between Wisconsin 32/57 and Manitowoc County AA, including construction of roundabouts at AA and 32/57 and reconstruction of the road and an intersection, through November. Work continues on Interstate 43 between the Manitowoc River and Wisconsin 96. The right lane is closed between Rosecrans Road and Manitowoc County T, and shoulder work is taking place between 96 and U.S. 10. Marathon County: U.S. 51/Wisconsin 29 is being widened between Marathon Street and the 51/Bridge Street interchange through September 2010. Stewart Avenue under 51 is closed. Stewart Avenue between the west intersection of Wisconsin 52 and 26th Avenue and 28th Avenue between 52 and Sherman Street are reduced to one lane in each direction. Interstate 39/U.S. 51 is restricted to one lane in each direction from Wisconsin 34 to the Business 51 interchange in Rothschild and over Bull Junior Creek in Kronenwetter through December, with 55-mph speed limits in one-lane areas. Wisconsin 13 is being reconstructed from Monroe Street to Wausau Street in Colby through late November, with traffic shifted to the west side of the roadway. The Wisconsin 153 bridges in Mosinee are being widened, with 10-foot lanes; lane closings are taking place weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Marinette County: U.S. 41 is limited to one lane in each direction north of Peshtigo as part of the 41 four-lane project through Nov. 1. Traffic on 41 will be rerouted on the Marinette County Y ramps and to County Y in Peshtigo. Marinette County T (Roosevelt Road) is closed between the U.S. 41 frontage road and Wisconsin 64 through mid-November. Oconto County: Work on the U.S. 41 bypass continues through November between Frog Pound Road and Oconto County S; 41 is restricted to one lane in each direction just north and south of Oconto, but the bypass route is now open. Oconto County F is closed at the north branch of the Oconto River in the Town of Lakewood until October for a bridge replacement project. Outagamie County: Work continues on U.S. 41 between Wisconsin 15/Outagamie County OO and Outagamie County J through November. Nightly lane and ramp closings are continuing. Weyers Road in the Town of Vandenbroek is closed through Nov. 17 for replacement of the Apple Creek bridge. Portage County: Work on the new U.S. 10 four-lane between Portage County N and Long Road is under way through November 2011. The project includes overpasses at Portage County G and Portage County O and a new 51/Wisconsin 34 south interchange. Sheboygan County: Work continues on Interstate 43 between the Sheboygan–Ozaukee county line and Wisconsin 42. One lane of northbound I–43 is closed in five-mile segments from the south end of the project between Monday at 6 a.m. and Friday at noon, and I–43 interchange ramps at Wisconsin 23, Wisconsin 28 and Wisconsin 42 are closed overnight between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sheboygan County O between Wisconsin 32 and 68th Street is closed through November for reconstruction; the detour is 32, Wisconsin 23 and Sheboygan County Y. Winnebago County: The U.S. 41 project from north of U.S. 45 to Wisconsin 21 includes construction of roundabouts at the 41/45 interchange, a new Witzel Avenue overpass, a widened Lake Butte des Morts causeway, and a new Fountain Avenue/Snell Road overpass. Stillman Drive is closed at U.S. 45. Marine Drive is closed near Lake Butte des Morts Drive, and traffic is reduced to one 12-foot lane between U.S. 45 and Wisconsin 21 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The left shoulder of southbound 41 is closed from 45 to 21 through Nov. 15. Snell Road is closed west of the Oshkosh Correctional Institution, Green Valley Road is closed from Glenway Drive south, and Fountain Valley Road is closed from Green Valley Road to the west. The WIOUWASH Trail is closed between Marine Drive and Westwind Drive until next summer. Left-turn lanes and a crash investigation site are being built at the U.S. 41/Wisconsin 44 interchange through Nov. 11.
