WKOW-TV in Madison connects the dots and concludes that biotech executive Kevin Conroy is running for governor. (For one thing, there is a Web site, www.conroy2010.org. Conroy seems unlikely to run for such other offices as the U.S. Senate against fellow Democrat Russ Feingold, or Congress against fellow Democrat Tammy Baldwin.) More on this after (as in if) Conroy announces, but my initial thought is that this is a positive step. I will be interested to hear what Conroy, CEO of Exact Sciences Corp., thinks of the state’s business climate given that the state’s business climate has been the responsibility of his party in this decade. It will also be interesting to watch Conroy defend or criticize his party’s historic anti-business attitudes, as demonstrated in our state’s chronic tax increases and overregulation. Related to that is the announcement by Ben Collins, founder of Aptus Technologies in Lake Geneva, that he is running for lieutenant governor as a Republican. “Democrats have created an anti-business climate which penalizes small businesses instead of creating incentives for investment in our people and communities,” says Collins (and I’ll be interested in hearing Conroy’s response to that statement). “Wisconsin can do better.” Trackback address for this postTrackback URL (right click and copy shortcut/link location) No feedback yetLeave a comment |
